Story of Syrinx & Pan Pipes

Syrinx was a wood nymph transformed into reeds to excape the god Pan. Pan fashioned the wind instrument know as the syrinx or the Pan pipes from those reeds.

Syrinx played by Simeon Stanciu from the CD Concertos pour flute / Antonio Vivaldi & Georg Philipp Telemann and by Uña Ramos from the CDs La Magia de la Quena and Puente de Madera. Chris Tenney recorded the canyon wren's song in the Los Padres National Forest, the hermit thrush in the northern Sierra Nevada, and the Swainson's thrush near the Carmel River.
