Internal Duets - Thrushes

The Swainson's thrush sings lovely harmonies using the two branches of its syrinx simultaneously. The varied thrush sounds like whistling and humming at the same time.

Chris Tenney recorded one of the Swainson's thrush songs near Carmel River, the hermit thrush in the northern Sierra Nevada, and the California thrasher in Pinnacles, NM [!]. The second Swainson's thrush song can be found on the CD collection Bird Songs of California produced by the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology. I slowed both Swainson's thrush songs using Bias Peak.
