Song Sparrow Finale

On California Bird Talk, we've talked about how and why birds sing songs and call calls. Our purpose has been to learn to hear birds better.

In this final program of series 4, we listen to two songs (with some variations) of a song sparrow, one of my favorite singers. We listen to the songs at normal speed and slowed down 8 times. Remember that we'd have to slow the songs down 20 times to be able to hear as much detail in them as the birds themselves can.

Have our ears have become readier to hear these sounds?

Chris Tenney recorded these song sparrows in the Los Padres National Forest.

I slowed the songs using Bias Peak.
